We Will Remember Them

Today we mark the one hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War.

People all around Europe and other parts of the world will today fall silent at 11 am – the time when peace was announced and the fighting stopped.

For the last few weeks children in our school have been thinking about what remembrance means and during Monday morning (the nearest school day to 11th November), our school will fall silent, so that we can pay our respects to those who have gone before us.  The picture below shows some painted poppies made by our Nursery children, which adorn our corridor.  In addition, our Reception classes have been making clay poppies, which can be seen below and in our entrance hall.

The children have also been donating to the Poppy Fund by buying poppies, and other items of remembrance during the last few weeks.
