Macmillan Coffee Morning 2016 Hits New Heights

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

This morning we held our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning and what a success it was!  Over one hundred guests arrived, and they along with staff in school all contributed towards this fantastic cause.  Many parents and children baked cakes for the event, as did our kitchen staff, who contributed with their world famous carrot cake and flapjack.

In this first photograph, some of our guests look particularly pleased to be attending – what could be nicer for breakfast!

Year 6 Helpers

Some of our Year 5 children helped to set up the café first thing in the morning, and later on, our Year 6 helped to serve drinks and cake to our guests.  We were all delighted to be told how polite and willing to help our children had been throughout the morning.  Frankly, it was no surprise but it is nice to hear it about our children.

At the end of the coffee morning, all our helpers were rewarded for their efforts in the best way possible on a day like today – with a slice of cake and some juice!

At the end of the morning the total raised stood at £476.72.  This is an amazing amount – thank you so much.  However, with cake left to sell at the end of the school day and Gift Aid to be taken into account, who knows how high our total will rise!

No wonder Mr Searle looks so happy!

A message from Mr Searle:

“Thank you one and all for everything you have done to make today so very special.  We have such a fantastic school community and events like this only go to prove it!”
