Today, Monday 5th January 2015, our new school building was officially declared open by Dame Sarah Storey, Britain’s most decorated paralympian.  The school was filled with invited guests from the school’s past and present.

Presentations were made to Mrs Shirley Bottomley, the previous headteacher, to Mr Roy Thomas, the school’s Chair of Governors at the time of the new build and to Dame Sarah herself.

Guests were treated to an escorted tour of the school by members of our Year 6, as well as a performance by the school choir and a spoken presentation from children, staff and volunteers.

The school had also displayed an array of historical artefacts, which will remain in the corridor for a few days.

During the tour of the school, Dame Sarah spoke to the pupils and staff about continuing to aim for the very highest.  She congratulated the school family and all our partners on working so well together to develop such a beautiful school.  After their tour, guests were offered refreshments and were able to chat with old friends and  colleagues.  It is fair to say that this day will last long in our memories.
